1. Passport, ID
Any non-EU citizen travelling to Hungary needs to have a valid passport. (For EU nationals national ID is acceptable.)
2. Application and Admission for Exchange and Study Abroad students at BME (NOT ERASMUS)
Your completed application form for entry to BME should reach BME by
30 June for the Fall and 15 October for the Spring semester. (Information
Center for Engineering Programs in English (ICEPE), Budapest University of

D 116)
NOTE: Missed deadline automatically results in the refusal of your application.
Application and Admission information
- Your application will be considered if you include a draft check for the
non-refundable application fee of EUR 100, and all the following documents:
- application form completely filled (be careful that your personal data appear correctly as are in your
passport because that will be the form to appear in your transcripts and degree certificate)
- the application form has to be signed and stamped by your home (sending) institution
- copy of your passport
- one of the following documents of English language proficiency: a) TOEFL test score of 550, or new
computer based score 213, b) Cambridge First Certificate "B", c) ELTS score of 5.0
- official transcripts, degrees/diplomas of any higher education already completed
- two recent photographs
- curriculum vitae (autobiography/resume)
- Attach documents, with the exception of high school certificates, to the
form as requested on it.
- Attach a list of requested courses to be taken at BME by title and code (See website.)
- Specify which term you are going to spend at BME (even if the form does
not refer to it).
- Mail the package registered to BME ICEPE. (See address above.)
Exchange students do not pay application fees!
NOTE: NOTARIZED ENGLISH TRANSLATIONS ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL WRITTEN DOCUMENTS EXCEPT YOUR PASSPORT.
Notification of your acceptance/rejection will be sent to you after your
complete application has been reviewed.
Tuition fees
All tuition fees for the first semester must be paid prior to enrolment. At the time, you
will need to show proof that you have paid your first semester fee via check or bank
transfer. In case of late or partial payment of tuition fees, the University reserves the
right to refuse enrolment.

NOTE:
- Tuition fees are generally not refundable.
- Please inquire if there is any handling fee for your money
transfer to ensure that full tuition amount has been transferred.
ATTENTION: As a non-EU citizen, prior to departing from your home country,
you may need to obtain a D-5 visa at the closest Hungarian Embassy in your
country. Due to current immigration regulations of our state you may face
difficulties in obtaining your visa. It may take as long as MONTHS.
Please, contact immediately the closest Hungarian Consulate, and find out
about most recent information, conditions and price of obtaining a D-5
visa.
NOTE: EU-citizens do not need visa in Hungary.
3. Enrolment
Please, note that after arriving in Hungary you have to get registered with
the Immigration Office in Budapest, and apply for a Residence Permit.
BME will provide assistance with arranging registration with the authority.
4. Academic Opportunities
You basically will attend courses conducted in English provided by
BME. You are allowed to join currently running courses ONLY. Due to this
particular characteristics of your stay at BME, you are advised to discuss
your study plan with your academic contact at BME at the application
period.
5. Accommodation
Private accommodation (rented room/apartment) are available for $ 100
to $ 300 a month depending on location and comfort. ESN (ERASMUS Student
Network) BME runs a temporary office assisting students with finding and
arranging accommodation at the beginning of the semesters.
6. Orientation Program
You are requested to take part in the orientation program that is
run as indicated in the academic calendar.
